2nd International Research Seminar on Salutogenesis

The 2nd International Research Seminar on Salutogenesis and the 2nd Meeting of the IUHPE GWGS was arranged by the Health Promotion Research Group at Folkhälsan, 14-16 May, 2009 in Helsinki Finland. The main focus of the seminar was on the promotion of mental health, wellbeing and quality of life.

Internationally known experts on mental health, health promotion and salutogenesis were invited: Professor Corey Keyes, USA, Professor Shifra Sagy, Israel, Assistant Professor Craig Becker, USA, Dr Georg Bauer, Switzerland, Professor Mima Cattan, UK and Assistant Professor Antti Uutela, Finland. Professor Vappu Taipale, recently retired as Director General of the National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health in Finland opened the seminar.

The seminar brought together about 130 scientists interested in mental health promotion and the salutogenic perspective on health, wellbeing and quality of life.
